Ireland loses to New Zealand in Simi Singh’s debuting cricket match

Ireland lost by 51 runs in the ongoing tri-nations series to New Zealand in Malahide, Dublin yesterday. This was the first international match of Simi Singh, a Dublin-based all-rounder of Indian origin, who was selected to the Ireland international ODI team recently.

Simi took 9 runs in 20 balls. His innings included a boundary as well. Ireland’s Niall O’Brien scored a century.

New Zealand set Ireland a target of 290 to win the second match of the ODI tri-series with Neil Broom top scoring for the with 79. In reply, Ireland’s Niall O’Brien scored 109 off 131 balls to lead a valiant fight but ultimately his team fell short by 51 runs, as Mitchell Santner took five wickets, in the second match of the tri-nation series.
