“Ireland Offers Abundant Study Opportunities for Social Worker and Dietitian Graduates”

Dublin: In a concerted effort to address staffing shortages within the National Health Service, undergraduate nurses, midwives, and health and social care graduates will be offered permanent contracts with the Health Service Executive (HSE). Additionally, graduates in social work and dietetics will receive prioritised placement within mental health services.

The HSE has affirmed that 1,000 health and social care students, along with 1,600 nurses and midwives, will be eligible for these permanent appointments. Currently, health and social care graduates comprise 25% of clinical staff and 14% of health staff within the system.

Furthermore, career placement opportunities extend to graduates in various healthcare disciplines, including dietetics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, chiropody/podiatry, speech and language therapy, social work, medical science, radiation therapy, clinical measurement, audiology, and radiography.

Bernard Gloster, Chief Executive of the HSE, emphasised that this recruitment drive will play a pivotal role in advancing the goal of universal healthcare access.
