In a recent analysis conducted by Plus500, Ireland has emerged as the fourth-ranked country in Europe for hosting the most successful businesses. The research focused on the largest companies across Europe, evaluating their total profits in 2022 relative to the number of employees, thus determining the profit per employee for each business.
Within the top 100 companies, Ireland boasts eight notable entries, featuring industry leaders such as Accenture, a Fortune 500 technology and consulting giant, and Medtronic, a prominent medical technology firm.
Topping the list is the United Kingdom, with an impressive count of 22 companies among the top 100. Notable British entities such as BP, Shell, GlaxoSmithKline, HSBC, and Lloyds contributed to the UK’s strong representation.
Following closely, France and Germany share the joint second position, each with 21 companies making it into the top 100. The Netherlands slightly edges ahead of Ireland, with ten companies securing positions in the prestigious list.
Italy clinches the fifth spot, with five companies in the top 100, including the renowned brand Ferrari. Denmark secures the sixth position with four companies, while Sweden and Belgium follow suit with three and one company, respectively, rounding off the top eight countries in the rankings.
