DUBLIN: Met Eireann says Ireland is bracing itself for a mini heatwave, as temperatures are set to hit 25C this weekend. After weeks of rain and miserable weather, the nation is set to bask in the sunshine for the next few days.
According to a Met Eireann forecaster, it will be sunny in Munster and south Leinster but in other areas it will be mostly cloudy with drizzle, mist and fog.
“Through the afternoon and evening the cloud will break up in most areas but will persist in the northwest where there will be patchy drizzle. Highest temperatures will range between 16C in the northwest and 25C in the south, in a light north to northwest breeze,” the forecaster added.
Saturday night will be “dry apart from isolated drizzle”. Mist and hill fog will develop in some counties. It will be mild a humid night with minimum temperatures of 11 to 16C. Sunday will see “long spells of sunshine” wrapping up the weekend in style.
Monday will begin mostly warm with dry weather. There will be a mix of cloud to disrupt the sunshine. “A duller damper day on Tuesday will herald in slightly fresher conditions for the middle of the week. Warm and dry with good spells of hazy sunshine on Monday. Cloudier conditions will increase from the northwest later in the day,” Met Eireann said.
