Dublin: Ireland secured a commanding victory over India in the International Boxing Series held in Dublin, winning 26 bouts to India’s 10. The host nation clinched the series yesterday after taking 14 of the 20 matches.
The event featured several standout performances from Ireland’s top boxers. Paris Olympians Jack Marley, Jenny Lehane, Dean Clancy, and world bronze medallist Patsy Joyce all claimed impressive second-round victories.
Ireland’s lineup included boxers from Antrim (3), Down (1), Dublin (8), Galway (2), Portlaoise (1), Leitrim (1), Mayo (2), and Westmeath (2). Among them were European gold medallist (2024) Shannon Sweeney, European bronze medallist Niamh Fay, and 2023 European Youth Champion Ava Henry.
This series marks Ireland’s 8th and 9th international appearances of the year, following youth internationals with Wales, France, and India in March, an Elite International against Austria in May, and an Under-23 Round Robin against England, Hungary, and Ulster Select earlier this month in Belfast.
The Elite and U23 teams from this series will go on to represent Ireland in upcoming competitions. The national team is scheduled to depart for Budapest on November 21.
