“Ireland’s Energy Sector to Create 5,000 New Jobs”

Dublin: A recent report by the Energy Storage Ireland Commission reveals that Ireland’s renewable energy sector is poised for significant growth, with an estimated 5,000 new jobs expected to be created in the coming years. The report highlights the critical role of energy storage technologies, particularly battery systems, in supporting the transition to renewable energy.

To meet Ireland’s renewable energy targets, the sector will need to expand its workforce eightfold. With the goal of increasing the share of electricity from renewable sources from the current 40% to 100% by 2035, the report emphasises the potential for significant reductions in waste. It also underscores the urgent need to increase Ireland’s energy storage capacity from the existing 700 MW to over 5 GW in order to fully eliminate fossil fuels from the country’s electricity supply.
