Dublin – Irish Indian scholar Benson Jacob has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Irish Research Council PhD Fellowship. This fellowship is a collaborative initiative with higher education institutions aimed at recruiting exceptional researchers with established careers. The Irish Research Council Fellowship provides a unique opportunity to engage in advanced research, and Benson will receive funding exceeding 100,000 euros for his fellowship.
Simon Harris, the Minister for Higher Education, Science, and Research in Ireland, recently announced this year’s recipients of the fellowships.
Benson Jacob’s fellowship will support research in collaboration with Antimicrobial Stewardship at Beaumont Hospital.
Benson Jacob currently serves as a research coordinator in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons. Additionally, he has worked as a staff nurse at St. James’s Hospital in Dublin. Mr. Jacob hails from the Chettipuzha family of Karuvanchal, Kannur (Kerala).
He holds a degree from Kozhikode Medical College and a nursing degree from University College Dublin. Furthermore, he has earned a Master’s degree in Health and Clinical Research, showcasing his dedication to advancing healthcare research and practice.
