Dublin: Ireland’s labour market continues to show strong momentum, with new research suggesting a surge in job opportunities despite global economic concerns linked to tariff tensions.
A new survey by IrishJobs reveals that one in four employers plan to hire additional staff next year, signalling growing confidence across industries. The findings, based on data from 500 employers and 1,000 professionals, also incorporate in-house statistics from the recruitment platform.
According to the report, 33% of employers have already increased recruitment since April 2025, while 24% have redeployed staff internally over the past six months. Large enterprises appear particularly optimistic, with 27% of such firms indicating plans to expand their workforce in the coming months.
Skills Shortages Persist
Despite the upbeat hiring outlook, the survey highlights a persistent skills gap. Seven in ten employers report difficulty finding candidates with the required expertise, particularly in technical fields such as data analysis, programming, and artificial intelligence.
AI Reshaping Recruitment
To address these challenges, employers are increasingly adopting AI-driven recruitment tools. Nearly 50% of companies surveyed now use AI to draft job advertisements, while 35% rely on automation to schedule interviews and manage candidate communication, reducing administrative workloads and improving efficiency.
The study also found that 21% of job seekers are exploring new opportunities primarily for better pay and improved work–life balance, underscoring changing workforce expectations.
