Irish Life Dublin Marathon Kicks Off with 22,500 Runners; Road Closures and Travel Delays Expected..

Dublin: The Irish Life Dublin Marathon is set to commence this morning with approximately 22,500 participants taking on the 26-mile course through Dublin. Now in its 43rd year, the marathon will start at Leeson Street Lower at 8:40 a.m. and finish at Mount Street Upper, featuring elite athletes, wheelchair competitors, charity runners, and first-time participants.

Among them, 74-year-old Colette O’Hagan from Co. Louth will complete her 1,000th marathon, and actor Colin Farrell will run in support of Emma Fogarty, the longest surviving person with EB, a rare skin condition.

Public transport and road access will be impacted across the city, with extensive road closures and diversions in place until the evening as participants are expected to cross the finish line up until 5 p.m.
