Joe Walsh Tours, Ireland’s leading travel company, has ceased operations

DUBLIN: Joe Walsh Tours, Ireland’s oldest and leading tour company, has ceased operations.

Thousands of customers were shocked to learn of the closure of Joe Walsh Tours, which had been functioning as a tour operator and travel agent in Ireland for the past 50 years.

The Commission for Aviation Regulation (CAR) said in a statement that Joe Walsh Pilgrim Tours Ltd., which trades under ten different brand names, including Joe Walsh Tours, is unable to meet its obligations to customers and has ceased trading.

Company sources said that if the client’s holiday booking has been canceled due to COVID-19 and Joe Walsh has not received a refund from Pilgrim Tours Limited, he has made arrangements for it through the Credit Note Scheme.

Prior to Pandemic, the company had offices in the UK, Europe and the US, and employed over a hundred people. But the company currently has only 25 staff.

Joe Walsh Tours was founded in 1961 by Joe Walsh, a native of Down, who worked for the Ulster Transport Authority and later with Thomas Cook in London.

Joe Walsh Tours has been instrumental in bringing Irish people into the ‘Holiday Day’ culture in the Irish market by introducing affordable Pilgrim packages.
