Kamala Harris Makes History as First Woman vice president of US

Washington: Fifty-six-year-old Indian-born Kamala Harris has written a new history in American politics.

Democratic candidate and black woman Kamala Harris is now the Vice President of the United States. She is also the first woman Vice President of the United States.

As Joe Biden takes on his new role as the President of the United States, after defeating the current President, Donald Trump, Kamala will be with him as the new vice president. Kamala is currently a senator from California.

Ms. Kamala defeated the current Vice President and Republican candidate Mike Pence. Kamala is the third woman to run for the US vice president.

Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964 in Auckland, California, to Shyamala Gopalan, from Tamil Nadu, India, and Donald Harris, from Jamaica.

In the race against US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump, Kamala’s candidacy recognised the vital role of African Americans and Americans of Indian descent. Kamala’s candidacy also brought great relief to the Democratic camp throughout the election.

This historic achievement is also a scathing response to Trump, who has taken an abusive stand against Kamala’s candidacy. That, too, with the adornment of being the first woman to hold the position of Vice President of the United States.

Kamala was educated at Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Kamala, who has been active in the public domain, was elected as California Attorney General in November 2010. She was the first African American and first woman to reach this position!

Apart from being a lawyer and a politician, Kamala is also a talented writer. Kamala’s books include, Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, Superheroes Are Everywhere.
