Kerala Assembly Election 2021: CPI(M) released a list of 83 candidates on Wednesday

Acting Secretary A Vijayaraghavan announced the Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidates for the Kerala Assembly elections of 2021 on Wednesday.

The list of 83 out of 85 candidates, including nine CPI(M) supported independents, has been announced. The acting secretary said the two candidates would be announced later.

Finance Minister Thomas Issac, Minister for Industries and Sports, EP Jayarajan and Minister for Public Works, G Sudhakaran, were not offered a seat because the party decided not to give seats to those who had been elected twice.

There are 11 women in the candidate list. Last time there were 12 women on the list. The CPM, which contested 92 seats in 2016, is contesting 85 seats this time.

After the candidate list announcement, State Secretary Vijayaraghavan said that this is the best list of candidates aimed at continuing the rule. The Kerala election will take place on 6 April and the vote count will take place on 2 May.
