Taoiseach Leo Varadkar plans to address areas of disagreement during his St. Patrick’s Day visit to the White House, where he will meet with US President Joe Biden on March 15. Varadkar emphasised the importance of engagement with the US, rejecting calls for a boycott despite criticisms regarding US military aid in Israel and the situation in Gaza. He intends to use the opportunity to express Ireland’s concerns about Gaza and advocate for a peace settlement.
The White House confirmed the bilateral meeting between Varadkar and Biden, underscoring the enduring partnership between the US and Ireland and discussing global issues such as support for Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as reaffirming commitment to the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement.
