DUBLIN: As expected, the government announced that only nominal exemptions would be allowed in Level 5 restrictions after April 12. Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said that the new virus, B117 variant, is spreading rapidly and that the country should not ease its guard.

Permission to travel within the respective counties will be granted after April 12. Currently only five kilometers are allowed.

From April 12, people from two different families will be allowed to meet outdoors.

Permission will be granted to resume work in the construction sector from April 12.

Another significant change is that gatherings of those who have been fully vaccinated since April 26 will be allowed indoors. People who have been vaccinated are allowed to visit other people who have been vaccinated. It is mainly beneficial for the elderly and the sick.

Most people over the age of 70 in nursing homes and elsewhere in the country have already been vaccinated. Such visits are allowed only two weeks after receiving the second dose.

Zoos, wildlife parks and other outdoor facilities can reopen on April 26th.

The Taoiseach also confirmed that up to 25 people will be allowed to attend the funeral from April 26.
