Brazil required a late goal from Casemiro to win against a dogged Swiss side at Stadium 974. Casemiro scored the single goal for the five-time champions in the 83rd minute with a spectacular finish.

On Tuesday, midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored twice to help Portugal defeat Uruguay 2–0 in their second Group H game of the FIFA World Cup 2022. Portugal advanced to the Round of 16 with a game to spare, becoming only the third team, after France and Brazil, to reach the knockout stage.
