Jayshree UIlal is one of the most influential Indian-origin CEOs in the IT sector, alongside Google’s Sundar Pichai, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, and YouTube’s Neal Mohan. She has been the president and CEO of Arista Networks since 2008. She joined the company when it had fewer than 50 workers and no revenue.
According to Forbes, Ullal has a net worth of $2.2 billion (about Rs 18,199 crore) as of Monday, February 20, 2023. This makes CEO Ullal one of the wealthiest self-made women in the United States. Her fortune stems from her 5% stake in Arista Networks. Ullal has set aside a portion of the fortune for her two children, nephew and a niece.
Ullal was born in Britain but raised in India, attending school in New Delhi. She earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from San Francisco State University and a master’s degree in engineering management from Santa Clara University.
Ullal began her professional career with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), followed by Fairchild Semiconductor, Ungermann-Bass, and Crescendo Communications, which was bought by Cisco in 1993. Ullal handled 20 mergers and acquisitions while at Cisco. She joined Arista in 2008 after working for Cisco for 15 years.
She has been listed among the “top five most influential persons in the networking sector” and the “World’s Greatest CEOs”. In 2014, she guided Arista to a successful IPO. Jayshree is married to Vijay Ullal, a venture capitalist and a former top IT executive. They live in Saratoga, California, with their two daughters. Susie Nagpal, Ulla’s late sister, was a politician who served on the Saratoga City Council in the United States.
