Met Éireann comes up with a status yellow warning to approach New Year

A status yellow warning has been issued for certain counties by Met Éireann. The new warning comes into effect as wintry conditions are expected throughout the country.

With a dip in the temperature up to -2C, certain counties has already expecting snowfall.

Its been now understood that counties like Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo are given a warning of snow and ice falls. Certain areas of these counties will be filled with snow.

The west and north west regions are likely to get scattered wintry showers along with some sunny spells today morning.

Persistent rain will affect the northeast during the morning, falling as sleet or snow in places, before extending southwards over the east and southeast through the afternoon and evening.

3C to 6C is the highest temperature expected accompanied by gusty winds.

Today night the costal counties are expected to see cold and breezy winds with a risk of hail and thunder.

Met Éireann said that cold and breezy on Thursday with sunny spells and passing showers, these mainly affecting Atlantic coastal counties with a risk of hail and thunder.

“Maximum temperatures generally ranging 2C to 6C in fresh north or northwest winds. Frost and ice are developing again on Thursday night with lowest temperatures of -3C to 2C.” they said.

The climate will change on the New year day and it will be dry, and bright for many areas with scattered showers affecting coastal counties.

4C to 6C will be the highest temperature with light to moderate northerly winds.
