Met Éireann issues thunderstorm warning for five counties

DUBLIN: A thunderstorm warning has been issued for five counties by Met Éireann. Forecasters also predict a risk of spot flooding and hail.

The Status Yellow weather warning is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork and Waterford. The immediate warning came in effect at 3 pm today and will remain in place until 6 pm.

“Scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening, bringing some heavy downpours with the risk of spot flooding and hail,” Met Éireann said.

Many places are forecast to be dry tonight, with long clear spells, and temperatures might drop as low as 2 degrees.

On Tuesday morning, most of the country can expect sunny spells. However, scattered rains will affect the south and west, Met Éireann said. The rainfall and drizzle will move into the west and northwest overnight.
