DUBLIN: When the vaccine has been delayed, a mouthwash that leads corona to sudden death will soon be on the market. A scientific study conducted in a laboratory found that this mouthwash has the ability to kill the corona virus within 30 seconds.
It remains to be seen whether this mouthwash, which has been able to eliminate the corona virus in the lab, will also be able to eliminate COVID-19 from the patient’s saliva. This experiment was conducted prior to this clinical trial.
A clinical trial will soon take place at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff to demonstrate how effective mouthwash can be in reducing the virus level in the saliva of COVID-19 patients. Its results are expected to be published early in 2021.
A report from the Cardiff University reveals that mouthwashes containing at least 0.07% Cetirizine chloride (CPC) are good indications that they are resistant to the virus.
This report called Virucidal Efficacy of Oral Rinse Components Against SARS-CoV-2 In Vitro has not yet been reviewed. But another study published last week found that CPC-based mouthwashes are effective in reducing COVID’s viral load.
The latest experiment was conducted by scientists in the university’s laboratory. The study was conducted on an individual’s naso/oropharynx passage using mouthwash brands including Dentyl.
Dentyl is the only UK mouthwash brand to participate in the 12-week clinical trial led by Professor David Thomas from Cardiff University.
Although these mouthwashes kill the virus in the laboratory very effectively, it is also important to know if they work in patients. This is what clinical studies need to prove, Prof. Thomas said.
“Although this in-vitro study is very encouraging and is a positive step, more clinical research is now clearly needed,” he added. Dr. Nick Claydon, a specialist periodontologist said the research was very valuable.
