Dublin: Despite global economic challenges, multinational corporations have not abandoned Ireland. These multinational corporations have helped make Ireland the best it has ever been by creating jobs and paying taxes to the government.
According to IDA Ireland’s annual report, they created 32,426 new jobs in Ireland last year alone. This is the highest figure ever recorded. The report reveals that a total of 3,01,475 people are employed in various foreign multinational companies in Ireland. This represents a 9% increase over the previous year. It is the first time that the previous 3,00,000 The report states that the record is being broken.
In the past 12 months, 24,019 people were employed by foreign direct investment. Despite the challenges, the country received 242 individual investments in 2021. According to the IDA report, 103 of these were first-time investors in Ireland, and more than half (127) invested in regional locations.
All regions benefited, but the Mid-East saw the highest levels of investment. “This is a 13.1% increase over the previous year,” said Mary Buckley, interim CEO of IDA Ireland. In addition to Dublin, FDI jobs in the Midlands increased by 10.5%.
Although the global economic situation is deteriorating, IDA says the first half of next year will be positive, while the second half is uncertain.
The report says that the situation in the global technical sector is being monitored and discussions are underway with tech investors. Deputy Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has said Ireland does not think it is immune to the challenges posed by recent global events.
