Dublin: New train timetables will come into effect across Ireland from Sunday, with Irish Rail advising passengers to check revised schedules in advance of travel. The changes mark a return to standard operating times, ending the temporary autumn timetable that was introduced in September on DART and other services.
The most significant adjustments will affect peak-time direct services between Mallow and Cobh/Midleton via Cork. Services will also make use of the newly opened platform at Kent Station, which became operational earlier this year.
Minor timetable changes will apply at several intermediate stations on routes between Dublin and Cork, as well as services connecting Portlaoise, Waterford, Limerick, Tralee, Galway, Westport, Maynooth and Longford. Adjustments will also apply to Galway–Limerick services over the weekend.
Full and updated timetables are available through the Irish Rail website and the Irish Rail and Iarnród Éireann mobile apps.
Irish Rail said the new platform at Kent Station will improve cross-city rail connectivity in Cork and support increased service usage. The development forms part of the Cork Area Commuter Rail Programme, which aims to expand network capacity.
Ongoing works include double-tracking on the Midleton line and re-signalling across the Cork rail network. These projects are designed to enable a future 10-minute service frequency on key Cork commuter routes, significantly enhancing rail services in the region.
