Features of ‘Rate the Landlord’
‘Rate the Landlord’ allows tenants to rate their landlords on various criteria, including repair responsibility, health and safety, rental stability, privacy, and respect. Tenants can provide ratings on a 1–5 star scale.
This concept, initially introduced abroad, quickly gained popularity as tenants shared their negative experiences with landlords, providing valuable information to others.
Empowering Tenants
The website aims to empower tenants by giving them a platform to share and access information about landlords. Often, tenants have little to no information about landlords when renting a new home. ‘Rate the Landlord’ enables them to gain insights into a landlord’s character and reliability.
Addressing the Housing Crisis
Ireland is currently facing a severe housing crisis, characterised by a shortage of available homes and exorbitant rents. This situation puts significant pressure on tenants. The website is seen as a potential tool to help tenants avoid falling into problematic rental situations.
