No more campus gatherings, house parties and sleepovers; students must sign an agreement saying that they will adhere to the new policy

The University College Dublin told that students should no longer have house parties and sleepovers.

In addition, students must maintain social distance on campuses and isolate themselves for 14 days if they experience any kind of symptoms of Covid or visit ‘Red List’ countries.

The UCD said they would have to sign a ‘health declaration’ stating that on-campus gatherings, students would limit their interactions and comply with all of the above conditions.

If any student violates the guidelines, the university will legally deal with them on a case-by-case basis.

A UCD spokesman said students who fail to comply with the agreement will have to suffer the consequences. He added that the university adheres to public health policies and when policies change, so do they.

He said it would be much easier to oversee student accommodation and there would be estate services to keep everyone safe.

Currently, only UCD has mentioned such an agreement, but it is expected that the policy will be enforced nationally in the coming days.
