One in six is poor! Eight lakh people below the poverty line in Ireland, including one lakh working people!

St. Vincent de Paul reveals that eight million people, including one million working people, are living below the poverty line in Ireland.

The dire situation here shows that poverty cannot be overcome despite work. This indicates that one-sixth of the country’s population is in distress and suffering.

Kieran Stafford, National President, described the real situation in the country at the charity’s 175th anniversary celebrations at the Dublin Convention Center.

” The number of homeless is increasing, 50% of isolated families are facing insecurity and 61% of families are unable to afford education. These are the families we see as charities all the time,” said Kieran Stafford.

The event was inaugurated by President Michael D. Higgins, a longtime fellow traveler of the charity. Higgins, who inaugurated the event, said that we should be able to help those who are living in perpetual poverty and misery.

Equality lawyer and charity activist Dr. Catriona O’Sullivan also spoke at the ceremony.

In addition, the foundation also organizes exam revision classes for students, after school activities, homework clubs and breakfast clubs.
