‘one metre plus’ to ‘two metres plus’ Social Scientists recommends to maintain three meter social distance

As the number of Covid cases increases day by day, some social scientists believes that increasing social distancing requirements from two metres to three metres will be a good idea.

People has gotten used to the two meter distance criteria quite comfortably and are practicing it for the last 10 months.

However scientists recommends that it will be even good if one could increase this distance.

In the UK, the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) panel has asked Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Government to increase the social distancing criteria from ‘one metre plus’ to ‘two metres plus’.

Even though the scientists recommended such an idea, it is unclear that the government will follow it or not.

‘There are no current plans to change social distancing rules. However, everything is kept under review.’ a Downing Street spokesman said.

‘Social distancing is important to help slow the spread of COVID-19. It does this by minimising contact between people.’ This is the current advice from the HSE.

‘You should keep a space of two metres (6.5 feet) between you and other people, avoid communal sleeping areas, avoid any crowded places, not shake hands or make close contact with other people, if possible.’ HSE said.

‘There is very little risk if you are just passing someone. But try to keep a distance of two metres as much as possible…. Try to avoid places where you cannot keep 2 metres apart from other people. If you are in a public place where it is difficult to keep 2 metres away from others, wear a face covering.’ added the HSE.

There were 46,169 cases of COVID-19 reported in the UK on Monday and it was right after this that the social distancing advice to the UK Government came.
