One year’s free fuel for parents of a baby born at petrol station

DUBLIN: Apple Green donates free fuel for one year to parents of a baby, who born at petrol station on trip to hospital.

John Feane and Naomi Galvin gave birth to their fifth child, Ellie, on February 3 at the Applegreen petrol station in Co Kildare.

“This is the first time we’ve had an ‘Applegreen baby’ and we couldn’t be prouder!,” said Trevor McBride, Applegreen Regional Manager.

“We’re thrilled for John and Naomi and thankful that everything went so smoothly, with the help of our magnificent ambulance service of course. To help the Feane family celebrate, we’re delighted to offer them a year’s worth of free fuel plus some extra treats and gifts for baby Ellie and her four proud siblings,” he said.

The incident occurred on February 3, when Naomi was about to be admitted to the hospital for the birth of her fifth child. Naomi began to feel labour pain on her way to Coombe hospital in Dublin. That’s when the car tire got accidentally punctured, and they were trapped on their way.

John then changed the car’s tire and returned home, but Naomi’s labour pains worsened. John called an ambulance within 10 minutes of leaving home as the pains intensified.

John drove into the Applegreen petrol station in Caragh, Co Kildare, as it would be easy for the ambulance to find them. But John said that the baby Ellie had born eight or nine minutes before the paramedics arrived. However, mom and baby were taken safely to the hospital in Coombe in an ambulance.
