Online dating of Irish men increased during COVID time; Irish women say they’re happy living alone

DUBLIN: Men in Ireland are reported to have increased their reliance on online dating sites during the COVID period.

A new survey shows that one in four men in Ireland has started using online dating sites since the COVID pandemic began. At the same time, the survey says that women are more satisfied during the lockdown and only 12% rely on online sites for dating!

At the same time, one-third of women commented that they were happy to live alone in lockdown. The survey was conducted on 16,000 people across Ireland during the last four days of January.

About 15% of men surveyed said they realised they did not need a partner during lockdown. At the same time, 32% of women reported being happy living alone in a lockdown.

Half of those surveyed by a pre-Valentine’s Day survey conducted by the Hastings Hotels group revealed that they would miss the chance for a romantic getaway this weekend. At the same time, 30% said they did not like anything more than what they ate.

However, more than a quarter of 10 people surveyed said they plan to cook a special dinner on Valentine’s Day. At the same time, others were of the opinion that hotel rooms would be booked to enjoy romance after the restrictions were lifted.

Julie Hastings, managing director of Hastings Hotels, said people wish to spend time with their partners even during restrictions.
