Becca Harper, co-founder, voiced worry about the financial impact on families, claiming that “childcare is extortionate” and that parents are considering leaving work owing to the high expense. The group was created in reaction to the UK government’s announcement that certain families in England would get 30 hours of free childcare. Parents in Northern Ireland can now apply for just 12.5 hours of funded pre-school education each week.

Many parents have expressed their support for system improvements, citing the stress of having to choose between job and parenting children.
