Pharmaceutical Packaging Group Wasdell Plans to Close Dundalk Plant, Resulting in Over 200 Job Losses

Dublin: Pharmaceutical packaging firm Wasdell is reportedly planning to close its Dundalk plant, which will result in over 200 job losses. Sinn Féin TD Ruairí Ó Murchú stated that up to 220 employees have recently received notice of termination. The plant, which handles drug testing, primary and secondary packaging, and distribution, is scheduled to close on August 30. Ó Murchú has called for clarification from Wasdell regarding the closure and its impact on workers. The plant, which opened in July 2019 with an estimated investment of €30 million, was initially expected to create 300 jobs within five years.
