“Pilots’ Strike Ends; 17.75% Pay Increase”

Dublin: Aer Lingus pilots have called off their extended strike following the intervention of the Labour Court, allowing services to return to normal.

Both Aer Lingus management and the Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA) have agreed to accept the Labour Court’s recommendation of a 17.75% pay increase over the next four years.

However, the full ratification of the contract will be contingent upon a ballot among union members, scheduled to take place from Thursday, July 18, to Tuesday, July 23.

IALPA President Captain Mark Tighe hailed the new pay increase as a significant victory for the pilots.

“This achievement was secured by the determination and unity shown by our members,” said Captain Tighe. “Furthermore, the union will restore pay to the pre-Covid 2019 levels with a 10% increase, meaning new employees will receive an additional 10% increase in their pay. This results in the lowest-paid pilots receiving an approximate 30% pay rise,” he added.
