Pope Francis Hospitalised In Rome after a routine medical checkup

Pope Francis has been admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital. The Pope has arrived for a health check-up, according to the official explanation. The authorities have stated that the Pope has come for a CAT scan of the chest and that his health condition is satisfactory.

Medical sources said that the situation is reassuring and tests have been done to avoid serious problems. These centres indicate that the Pope will spend a few days here. Following this, all his programmes scheduled for Thursday and Friday have been cancelled.

Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said that the Pope had come for previously scheduled examinations. Vatican sources also said that he may spend a few days in the hospital.

According to sources, all scheduled tests were completed on Wednesday. There were no heart issues. They also stated that respiratory tests had been performed. They said that there is no need to worry about his health.

The 86-year-old Pope has knee problems and uses a wheelchair. He had made it clear that, like his predecessor Benedict XVI, he would resign if ill health made it impossible for him to continue his work. In December, the Pope also revealed that he had already signed the letter of resignation.
