Possibility for allowing ‘limited’ street trading

There might be a chance of ‘limited’ street trade being allowed in the Dublin city centre after the talks.

The seasonal traders on Henry Street and Moore Street had been prohibited by the city council due to Covid restrictions.

The local representatives criticized this measure as unfair since other shops as well as drinking and dining was due to open.

Henry St traders, the Irish Organisation, Market and Street Traders (IOMST) Lord Mayor Hazel Chu, council officials and councillors held talks this evening.

Afterwards Sinn Féin councillor Janice Boylan said there is a possibility that very limited trading may be allowed.

She said Dublin City Council will be in contact with all traders to discuss the options that have been suggested but this is all reliant on future restrictions. It is understood the new plan could involve fewer stalls and those being spread out through surrounding streets.
