RCB beats MI in the Second Super over of Dream 11 IPL 2020

The tenth match of Dream 11 IPL 2020, witnessed the second super over of the season. The first one was between the Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab, in which the Delhi had the last laugh.

Royal Challengers Bangalore made their second win of the season by beating the current champions Mumbai Indians in a super over at Dubai International stadium.

By batting first the Bangalore were able to raise a total of 201 runs on the board.

With a fantastic batting performance by the Bangalore openers made the day much more easier for the RCB. Both Arron Finch and Devudutt Padikkal didn’t allowed the MI bowlers to settle down, they scored 52 and 54 respectively.

For the Bangalore captain it was another tough day, Kohli managed to take only 3 runs. The South African wicket keeper batsmen AB de Villiers also scored a half century. He remained not out with 55 across his name. RCB batting ended with a firepower batting from de Villiers and Shivam Dube (27).

The bowling unit of MI was not in a good shape today. Even the world’s No. 1 bowler, Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless and gave away 42 runs in his 4 overs.

It was not a good day for both the captains with the bat, Rohit Sharma also went cheaply by just scoring 8 runs of 8 balls. It was the young Indian batsmen Ishan Kishan, who helped the Mumbai Indians to extend the game to a super over.

Kishan fell one runs short of an IPL century. He scored 99 from 58 balls with two fours and nine sixes. The West Indian all rounder Kiron Pollard was the next person in the MI squad to score a half century in todays game. He scored 60 of 24 deliveries with three fours and five maximums.

Kohli was curios in setting up a good bowling unit for todays game and which resulted in the omission of Umesh Yadhav, who was poor with his performance in the previous matches.

Isuru Udana, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal and Adam Zampa were the five bowlers used by Bangalore. Expect Sundar all others were having an economy over 10.

On the other hand the young Indian all rounder Washington Sundar stood out of the box by giving away just 12 runs and picking up the wicket of Rohit Sharma in his four overs.

“I have to do the job for my team. Happy to contribute and happy to play such a game.” Sundar said after the match.

With the fantastic and fearless bating by Kishan and Pollard helped MI to level the score on the last ball.

Pollard and Hardik Pandiya went out to bat for MI in the super over and Bangalore gave the ball to Navdeep Saini. On the fifth ball Saini was able to take the wicket of Pollard and that lead Rohit to come in as the non striker batsman for the last ball.

Within six balls, the MI batsman’s were only able to score 7 runs with the loss of one wicket.

For RCB, Captain Virat Kohli and AB de Villers came out to bat and Bhumrah was the bowler. It was the fifth time, Bhumrah was given the ball in a super over and it was the first time that he failed to take his team to the victory.

In a nail biting match Kohli was able to dispatch Bhumrah’s last ball to the boundary and seal the match for RCB.

AB de Villers was announced as the man of the match for his fantastic performance in the game.

After a lot of criticisms, the Bangalore team could peacefully got to bed on Monday night.

“I don’t have words right now. It was such a roller-coaster game. I think they played really well and patiently in the middle. It went down to the wire, we tried to execute the things we wanted to. We’ve got a close victory and these little things on the field, we really want to focus on it,” said Virat Kohli during the post match presentation.
