Refugee centres were set on fire; Minister Urges Public Cooperation in Arson Probe at Refugee Centres

Dublin: Justice Minister Helen McEntee has issued a fervent call for individuals of integrity to step forward and provide testimony regarding the recent arson attack on refugee centres. Expressing deep concern over those who evade their civic duty, Minister McEntee emphasised the imperative of cooperation in the ongoing investigation.

Asserting that the inquiry into the arson case is making significant strides, Minister McEntee underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting law enforcement efforts. While the Gardai lead the investigation, additional resources will be allocated to ensure a thorough pursuit of justice.

It is evident that numerous individuals possess knowledge pertinent to the incident yet remain reticent. Minister McEntee implored those affected by the tragedy to come forward before vital information is lost forever, emphasising the gravity of withholding such crucial details, which carries severe legal consequences, including life imprisonment.

The recent blaze at Honeywood, a seven-bed dormer bungalow in Leixlip, Kildare, serves as a stark reminder of the urgency to address these incidents. Minister McEntee, alongside Drew Harris, is actively engaged in discussions within the Parliamentary Committee on Justice regarding the escalation of such attacks. Committee Chairman James Lawless has underscored the potential lethal ramifications should these acts of violence remain unchecked.
