RSA Calls for 10% Increase in NCT and Driving Test Fees

Dublin: The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has proposed an increase in fees for the National Car Test (NCT) and driving tests, citing financial strain. This proposal has been submitted to the Prime Minister for approval, according to documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

Proposed Fee Increases
NCT Rate: Proposed to increase to €60.50.
Driving Test Fee: Proposed to rise to €93.50.
Commercial Vehicle Test and Driving License Fees: An additional 10% increase requested.

The RSA currently operates with a budget allocation of €95 million. To manage its financial challenges, the RSA has requested either the approval of these fee increases or a substantial budgetary grant from the government. The authority argues that without these adjustments, it will be difficult to sustain its operations effectively.
