Paris: Companies are ‘stocking up” on flights due to the threat of shortages. Aside from Air India, several other airlines have placed large orders for the aircraft, including Ireland’s Ryanair and Saudi Arabia’s new National Airlines. Approximately 700 jets have already been ordered.
Even the planes ordered before the pandemic have yet to be delivered in full for various reasons. Airbus and Boeing receive large orders at this stage. Orders worth billions of dollars have been received. It is expected that the delivery of these aircraft may extend till 2030.
More than 700 jets have been ordered by companies such as Air India, Ryanair in Ireland, and Saudi Arabia’s new National Airline.
Turkish Airlines has announced that it will place an order for 600 planes in June. This order surpasses Air India’s record of 470 aircraft. The company has released ten-year plans. By 2033, the company hopes to have 170 million passengers. This is exactly double what it was in 2023.
These flight increases are expected to complicate the entire air traffic system in Istanbul, as well as in Europe and the Middle East.
According to observers, the majority of the orders are being placed to counter the arrival of new-generation single-aisle jets, which are expected to be available in the mid-2030s. They warn that it is dangerous.
They add that jets currently sold are cleaner than new ones, so they can be expected to help the aviation sector’s goal of achieving net-zero targets by 2050.
