The victory secured India’s place in the semi-finals, while eliminating the West Indies from the tournament.
Chasing 195/5, India completed their highest successful T20I run chase at Eden Gardens and their biggest chase in T20 World Cup history, with Samson anchoring the innings from start to finish.
The semi-final line-up is now confirmed, with India, South Africa, England and New Zealand progressing to the final four. South Africa will face New Zealand at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, 4 March, before defending champions India meet England at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, 5 March.
