The shortlist for the 2026 European Car of the Year has been revealed. Out of 35 contenders, 60 jurors from 23 countries have selected seven finalists: Citroën C5 Aircross, Dacia Bigster, Fiat Grande Panda, Kia EV4, Mercedes-Benz CLA, Renault 4, and Škoda Elroq.
Following initial evaluations at Denmark’s Tannistest, the finalists will undergo extensive testing in Spain at the Parc Motor Castellolí track near Barcelona before the final vote. Each juror will allocate 25 points across at least five models, with a maximum of 10 points per vehicle.
The winner will be announced on January 9, 2026, during the Brussels International Motor Show. Last year’s title went to the Renault 5/Alpine A290, which triumphed with 353 points.
