The 16th Special Olympics World Games, the world’s largest inclusive sports event, took place from June 17th to June 25th, 2023, in Berlin, Germany. Thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities from across the world competed in 26 sports on this historic occasion. The Games exhibited the incredible abilities, determination, and passion of these great athletes with the aim of promoting recognition and inclusiveness.
A huge congratulations to the Irish team, who won an incredible 76 medals at the Special Olympics. Very proud of each and one of the athletes who competed and represented us in Berlin.
India ended its Special Olympics World Games 2023 campaign by winning 202 medals (76 gold, 75 silver and 51 bronze), with the last of the medals coming from the athletics track.
