Status Yellow rain warning for Galway, Mayo and Kerry for Friday

The Irish Meteorological Service has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Galway, Mayo, and Kerry for Friday. The warning is in effect from 1 am on Friday to 4 pm.

Met Éireann predicts that heavy and possibly thunderous rain will fall over the three western counties later tonight (Thursday) and continue into tomorrow.

The counties have been warned that the heavy rain might cause localised floods and dangerous driving conditions.

Heavy rain will also fall in parts of west Munster and west Ulster. The rest of the country will also see heavy downpours.

The western part of the country will get heavy rain tonight, while the eastern part will have patchy rain with temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.

Tomorrow there will be rain in all areas with cloudy weather and dry weather in some areas in the east.

Drier weather will develop tomorrow evening in the west and southwest coastal areas. Winds will be mild and mostly southwesterly. However, Met Éireann says that it will remain breezy and wet elsewhere, with rain becoming heavier in the east.
