Status Yellow wind alert across Ireland; Orange alert in three counties

DUBLIN: Met Éireann issued more weather warnings across the country. A Status orange wind alert has been issued in Donegal, Galway and Mayo counties between 12 noon and 4 pm tomorrow.

Winds that reach with a speed of 65 to 80km/h will blow in the western counties at a speed of 110km/h.

A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Leitrim, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford. It will take effect tomorrow from 5am to 5pm.

Another status yellow wind warning has been issued for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Portlaoise, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Rosecommon and Tipperary. It will take effect tomorrow from 6am to 4pm. Winds will reach 80 to 90km/h in this region.

The wind has been blowing continuously in various parts of the country since yesterday. Authorities said electricity was being restored to about 8,000 homes that had been cut off, including in Mayo and Louth counties.

Accidents were reported this morning on the M1, M3, M6 and M7 motorways. The AA Roadwatch has urged motorists to be extra vigilant as there is high presence of ice on all roads across the country.
