Storm Agnes Looms: Eight Irish Counties on Orange Alert!

Dublin: The Meteorological Service of Ireland (Met Éireann) has issued critical weather warnings for various regions in Ireland. An orange wind warning has been issued for eight counties, including Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, and Waterford, spanning from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Simultaneously, heavy rain is anticipated in Waterford, Cork, and Kerry, lasting from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Furthermore, a special yellow rain warning has been issued for Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Wicklow, while a yellow wind warning covers Leinster, Munster, and Galway. These warnings are in effect from 7 a.m. until midnight.

Met Éireann has cautioned that this adverse weather, attributed to Storm Agnes moving north across Ireland, carries the potential for significant disruptions. These disruptions may manifest as travel challenges, power disruptions, coastal flooding, and reduced visibility. Additionally, the heavy rain could result in localised flooding, making it imperative for residents to exercise caution and take necessary precautions.
