Study from India and work in Ireland after COVID Pandemic! Ireland expands stay-back rules

DUBLIN: Ireland is expanding the rules on stay-back for foreign students, including Indian students studying online during the time of COVID pandemic.

Accordingly, international students who have returned to their home country following the COVID-19 outbreak or have stayed in Ireland and continued to take classes online will be eligible for stay-back programs.

The Irish government has announced that international students from Ireland will be allowed to work in the country for the period allowed by law, even if they are studying remotely for the second semester.

This means that Indian students who are currently staying in Ireland to study can continue their online class. Or even if they went back to their home country, they can return to Ireland after their studies and take advantage of the stay-back scheme.

In addition, there are indications that the same benefit may be available to Indian students studying abroad (classes started in January 2021) after arriving in Ireland in the semester that has just begun. Accurate information can be collected from the educational institutions for which admission has been obtained.

Sources close to the Justice Department said that the same benefit would be available to those who have studied locally after gaining admission in courses started in September and January.

In order to avail the benefit of this scheme, students have to produce a letter stating that they are a student for the academic year 2020 – 2021 from the higher education institution where they are studying online.

This is great news for Indian students who want to study in Ireland. This is a new achievement for Ireland, which has a tradition of providing excellent education to students around the world.

The scheme will further help Indian students across Ireland to get better internships and job opportunities even during this time of crisis.

There have been widespread complaints that many students have arrived in Ireland during the COVID period and have suffered from not being able to attend classes and to find part-time jobs. The Irish government is responding to this by taking immediate action.

In the context of the new amendment, the most attractive benefit is that students who are currently staying in Ireland can return to India.
