Temperatures below -9 degrees recorded in Ireland today

DUBLIN: Ireland recorded temperatures below -9 degrees today. The lowest temperatures were reported in the Midlands and eastern part of the country.

Temperatures in many areas will be below freezing during the day. However, most of Leinster and Munster will remain dry with spells of sunshine.

Meanwhile, the status yellow low temperature / ice warning issued by Met Éireann from 5pm yesterday ended at 12pm today.

Met Éireann reported that it would be mostly dry but quite cloudy tonight, with a continuous patchy drizzle in the west.

With another widespread frost, the temperature will drop to +2 to -3 degrees. It is expected that light winds will allow widespread fog to develop overnight, with some dense patches of fog.

The Irish Meteorological Service yesterday said that it would remain warm until tomorrow (Sunday) night with temperatures only dropping to -2C.

“Many areas will be dry on Sunday with a mix of clouds and some bright spells,” a spokesperson said.
