Dublin: The Irish government has devised a strategy to combat the trend of global corporations laying off workers. As part of this, the Minister of Enterprise, Trade, and Employment, Simon Coveney, went to the US to directly visit the head offices of international companies operating in Ireland and hold talks with senior officials.
“While we are currently experiencing some bad news, I believe that more good news will soon reach Ireland,” the minister told RTE News after his visit. He went on to say that after meeting with officials from technology companies, he was able to make important decisions to prioritise more initiatives in Ireland.

Technology giants such as Twitter, Metta, Stripe, Amazon, Intel, Microsoft, Google, HubSpot, and Dell have also indicated that they are cutting operations in Ireland. , Minister Simon Coveney visited the US to discuss the situation. According to the minister, the number of job cuts in Ireland in recent months is only a fraction of the total number of jobs created in the country’s tech sector.
He clarified that Apple, the world’s largest technology company, has not cut jobs here but plans to hire 1,300 people at its European headquarters in Cork, Ireland, in the coming years. More tech firms will relocate to Ireland.
Most tech companies are aware that the growth reported last year may be at least 20 percent lower. They’re catching it “somewhere,” and it’s a correction in the tech sector but not a crisis. “I can assure you that when we resume growth in the technology sector, it will benefit Ireland more than anywhere else,” the minister said.
