The ‘Punnamada Boat Club’ won first place in the Kerala House Boat Race held for the Indian community in Carlow

Carlow: The Punnamada Boat Club won first place in the Kerala House Boat Race held for the Indian community in Carlow. In the last lap of the water festival, which was attended by 18 teams from Ireland, the Punnamada Boatmani Vijaya Thilaka Club, led by Captain Punnamada Georgekutty, rowed ahead of their nearest rivals by a distance of one boat.

Kilkenny were the best performing team in second place. Drogheda “Alliens” finished third.

The presence of hundreds of rowing enthusiasts from various parts of Ireland on the Barrow River in Carlow Town made the competition a sensational one.
Organized by Kerala House, the Dragon Boat Regatta was organised in collaboration with the Irish Dragon Boat Association.

The ‘Chanda Mela’ organized by the Lucan Club and the support of the local community made the water festival remarkable.
