Three Ireland to launch 5G network

Mobile Network Three users will be able to access the 5G service from today with the launch of the operator’s new network.

With 35% population coverage from the very first day, the company privileges that it will soon become the largest 5G network in the country and along with this the company will be the first 5G mobile provider to offer € 5 add-on on selected prepaid service plans to the customers.

Compared to the other network customers, Three customers were lagging behind when it comes to 5G network. Mobile operators Eir and Vodafone had launched their 5G offers in the previous year itself.

The network Three have invested $ 100 million to build the network over the past eight months, and plan to spend $ 100 million more each year to develop it over the next few years.

When it launches Three 5G provision will be available in every city, and the company plans to add 500 more sites to 315 early next year.

The company said that they will give more focus in the cities of Dublin and Cork. Three is the second largest mobile provider in Ireland, behind Vodafone.

The company also claims that almost all the cities across the country will have a coverage as they have decided to meet the connectivity demand that has been experienced everywhere since the launch of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Robert Finnegan, CEO of Three Ireland, said that they started their 5G rollout with Ericsson last year, building our network to bring customers in both rural and urban areas the best possible experience of 5G from the very beginning, which includes providing superfast broadband to remote areas in Ireland.

Smartphones such as the Samsung S20 Ultra, Samsung S20 Plus, Samsung S20 5G, Huawei Mate Xs 5G and Huawei P40 Pro 5G, will be available at an offer price at the new Three service launch.

The company also plans to include latest 5G Apple iPhones in the coming weeks after their launch.

Telco, the country’s largest mobile data carrier, offers speeds of up to 1Gbps, which is 5-10 times faster than current 4G.
