India clinched their ninth Asia Cup crown by defeating Pakistan by five wickets in the 2025 final. Chasing 147, India recovered from an early collapse at 36/3 to seal victory in 19.4 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls from Tilak Varma.
Varma, calm under pressure, anchored partnerships with Sanju Samson (24 off 21) and Shivam Dube (33 off 22) to rebuild the innings after the early dismissals of Abhishek Sharma (5), Shubman Gill (12) and skipper Suryakumar Yadav (1). Dube’s late fireworks and Varma’s composure carried India close, before Rinku Singh joined him to finish the chase.
Pakistan, led by Salman Agha, had earlier collapsed from a promising start to post just 146, losing nine wickets for 33 runs in the middle overs. Despite early breakthroughs from Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi, their bowlers couldn’t deny Varma, who guided India to yet another Asia Cup triumph.
