Time limits, curfew and no live music; new guidelines for pubs and restaurants

DUBLIN: The Irish government has issued revised guidelines for pubs and restaurants ahead of its decision to resume indoor dining and drinking in mid-July. Meanwhile, Fáilte Ireland published guidelines ahead of the Government’s decision. The guidelines for pubs and restaurants include no live music, a 105-minute time limit, and an 11.30 pm curfew.

No more than six people over the age of 13 are allowed per table. This figure does not include those under 12 years of age. However, for both indoor and outdoor dining, the total combined capacity at a table cannot exceed 15.

The 105-minute limit does not apply if people in the premises maintain two metres social distance. If only one meter of social distance can be maintained, a time limit of 105 minutes will apply.

There will be no 105-minute time limit for outdoor dining, which will resume on June 7.

Live music is not permitted in either indoor or outdoor settings. All indoor and outdoor services must be closed by 11.30pm.

Both indoor and outdoor dining will be table service only, and customers will not be able to book multiple tables for indoor dining.

Adrian Cummins, CEO of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, welcomed the new guidelines. “The guidelines prove that there is now a difference between a hotel restaurant and a standalone restaurant,” he said.
