Uber is set to eliminate around 3,300 jobs globally, representing roughly 10% of its workforce, as part of a restructuring aimed at reducing management layers and simplifying operations.
CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said the changes would create clearer responsibilities, speed up decision-making and generate savings that could be redirected towards growth, innovation and emerging technologies.
The company plans to reduce about 20% of its management positions and consolidate teams across fewer key locations. Most remote employees will also be required to return to offices, with hybrid workers expected to spend at least three days a week onsite.
Uber reported 12% year-on-year revenue growth to $14.2 billion in its latest quarter. The cuts come as the company continues investing heavily in autonomous vehicles and robotaxi services.
Uber employs more than 400 people at its Limerick office, although the impact of the global layoffs on its Irish workforce has yet to be confirmed.
